  City Hall (The Old Court)

At the corner of Kralja Milana and Dragoslava Jovanovica streets, where today there is a part of the Belgrade City Hall, once was a royal palace of Serbian Obrenovic and Karadjordjevic dynasties. It was built between 1881 and 1884 according to the architect Aleksandar Bugarski design, as a private and official residence of Milan Obrenovic who was crowned in 1882 as a king of Serbia. Upon the May Coup in 1903 until 1914 it was an official residence of the Karadjordjevic dynasty.

It is a building erected in the "Italian renaissance" style, ornate with classic caryatids, palace pillars and gryphons, and is one of the most significant architectural creations in 19th century Serbia. It was restored in the period 1921, 1930 - 1931 and after the World War II when the façade was changed and a main entrance opened toward the Kralj Aleksandar street. Today the Old Court rooms exhibit several exquisite paintings of our national artists.
