Municipal Organizational Committee which includes the representatives from the following institutions and non-governmental organizations:
Darko Petrov National Library, Dimitrovgrad; Center for Culture, Dimitrovgrad; St. Cyril and Methody High School, Dimitrovgrad; Mosa Pijade Elementary School, Dimitrovgrad; Municipal Red Cross Organization. Dimitrovgrad; Natura Balcanica NGO; KIC Caribrod NGO, and Balcan Club NGO, in cooperation with the State Organization for Bulgarians Abroad from Sofia, Bulgaria, and the Serbia and Montenegro Commission for the Cooperation with UNESCO (the Man and Biosphere Committee) from Belgrade.
Program:
The activity will last only one day, September 11th, 2004, in the Jerma RiverValley, in the Sv Jovan Bogoslov (St John the Theologian) Poganovo Monastery and its surroundings.
A literary contest has been announced under two titles: The Jerma and the Secret of her Beauty and The Poganovo Monastery Embraced by Stone and Water, with the deadline August 20th, 2004.
1. The action patron is the Dimitrovgrad Municipality Assembly
2. The media sponsors are the Caribrod RTV from Dimitrovgrad and the NIU Bratstvo from Nis.
3. The Activities:
a) An outdoor exhibition of paintings (in the Monastery yard) taken from the Dimitrovgrad City Gallery and originating from the Poganovo Monastery International Fine Arts Workshop dedicated to the Monastery and the Jerma. The exhibition will be opened during the whole day (09.00-18.00).
b) The guided Monastery tour, in groups, lasting the whole day (09.00-18.00)
c) Lectures on the Jerma and her canyons: the geomorphology, orography and biology ( as an refugium-endemic form of life several million years old), as well as the anthropogenic upgrading of the location. The ecologic aspect and the erosion problem will be stressed. The lecturers will be Prof. Spas Sotirov from Nis and Prof. Stanimir Kostadinov from Belgrade. The lectures will be given to groups during the whole day (09.00-18.00)
d) A music and poetry recital in duration of 60 minutes will be performed in the Monastery yard by the Dolce Visione Chamber Formation from Sofia and local poets and actors of the Hristo Botev Theatre from Dimitrovgrad. The music part will include classical music pieces inspired by water (Strauss, Schubert, Tchaikovsky, etc..). The speech part will be composed of the three awarded works at the Literary Contest, poems and prose dedicated to the Jerma and the Monastery written by our countrymen( Mr.Marin Mladenov, Snezana Vidanovic, Elizabeta Georgiev, Boris Todorov, as well as the famous writers Mr.Ivan Vazov and Mr. Aleko Kostadinov). This will represent the Manifestation Opening Ceremony which will start at 11.00..
