SPORT COMPETITIONS

A sport event is planned on the location of the former Vermes Sport Complex in Bagoljvar as a demonstration of some sport disciplines which represented a part of the Palic Sport Games held for the first time in 1880, fourteen years before the proclamation of the First Modern Olympic Games on the International Congress in Paris 1894, i.e. sixteen years before the First Modern Olympic Games were held. The Palic Sport Games had grown into the Palic Olympiad, and gained both regional and international importance.
The Olympia Sport Association, under the patronage of the Subotica Municipality Assembly, will organize a manfestation-reminder of the Palic Olympiad in the beginning of September, while the final competitions are planned for the September 12th,2004, the European Heritage Days in Subotica most important activity day. Aslo planned is the exhibition called "From Palic to Athens.." opening in the Big Terrace exhibition space.
The painters from the Subotica Artist Association will follow and perpetuate the Palic Olympiad competition scenes.
